Since powder quartz is featured with characteristics like good grindability and low power consumption, you can choose quartz grinding mills specially designed by SBM for quartz powder production, such as ball mill, Raymond mill, MTM medium speed trapezium mill, SCM super-micro powder mill (for fine grinding) and MXB series mill (for coarse powder making).
The ball mill is widely used in quartz powder plant, and is favored by our customers. The SBM ball mill is composed of feeding part, discharging part, gyre part, and transmission part. Its rotary speed varies from 21 r/min to 38 r/min, and the output size from 0.074mm to 0.89mm. the processing capacity can reach as high as 29t/h.
There are two grinding methods for quartz – dry grinding process and wet grinding process. Usually, because of grinding aid (water in most cases), the final product of wet grinding process is finer than that of dry grinding process.
Powder quartz after super fine grinding has the following changes: its median diameter is decreased, its surface area is increased, and its structure and prosperities have also changed in a certain degree.
The super fine quartz powder is widely applied in electroceramics, upmarket ceramics, gas concrete, refractory materials industries and so on. Here we take the refractory industry for example, quartz powder, of which SiO2 content is less than 99.5% and quartz grain size is less than 10μm, is often added into silica bricks production, cement production and clay processing. In no-rotary kiln, fine quartz powder is often used as UEA instead of the expensive UEA such as kyanite, sillimanite, and andalusite, greatly reducing the cost of production.
