Guinea has one of the world’s largest bauxite reserves, and it is one of the largest bauxite producers, containing an estimated 24% of global bauxite reserves. The largest producer is the Sangarédi mine near Boké which is operated by CBG.

The Cie des Bauxites de Guinée's (CBG) operations, the world’s largest single producer of bauxite (aluminum ore), are located in Western Guinea. The operations produce and export over 260 Mt of bauxite. It is engaged in underground and surface bauxite mining, which include bauxite mine exploration, bauxite ore extraction, processing and smelting. Treatment of the run-of-mine bauxite consists mainly of crushing and drying before shipment.
